The food pantry is sustained by nine churches in eastern Mecosta County. With wide community participation in food drives and funding, the pantry served 931 households in 2012. That is an increase of 58 households. The Pantry serves a wide geographical area, impacting 26 communities. In 2012, the highest levels of need were Mecosta, Barryton, Remus, Big Rapids, Morley, Stanwood and Rodney. Mecosta and Big Rapids showed an increased need. The expanded need from Big Rapids may have been due to funding shortfalls at pantries there. Barryton and Stanwood showed decreases. Barryton may be benefiting from a monthly mobile food pantry. God's Helping Hands receives no federal or state funding. Donations are tax-deductible. We are a community taking care of our neighbors.
