The food pantry is sustained by nine churches in eastern Mecosta County. With wide community participation in food drives and funding, the pantry served 950 households in 2013. That is an increase of 77 households. The Pantry serves a wide geographical area, impacting 20 communities. In 2013, the highest levels of need were Mecosta, Barryton, Remus, Big Rapids, Morley, Stanwood and Rodney. God's Helping Hands receives no federal or state funding. Donations are tax-deductible. We are a community taking care of our neighbors.
In 2013, God's Helping Hands spent $142,000 on food purchases mostly from Feed America, at extremely low prices. Additional food needs are purchase locally at favorable pricing.
Please patronize the Resale Store as it provides 72% of the funding for God's Helping Hands. The Store is open to all, pricing is kept low to serve low income people, but you can pay whatever you think is a fair price.
